Auckland Steakhouse & Wine Lounge
Wynyard Grill is an Auckland steakhouse and wine lounge located in the heart of the Wynyard Quarter, adjacent to the Viaduct Harbour. We are operated by the team behind Johnny Barr’s American Restaurant Bar & Grill, which previously occupied the site.
We have upgraded the venue in preparation for the 2020 America’s Cup and to accommodate the new 5-star Park Hyatt hotel opening directly opposite our venue in early 2020.
Wynyard Grill will retain some of the traditional and popular Johnny Barr’s dishes such as their well-received macaroni and cheese varieties; which have featured on both VIVA and twice on The Urbanlist. We are also excited to introduce some new signature dishes; by day we will offer a range of burgers including the delectable Beyond – a plant-based vegan patty that tastes just like meat, the Truffle Swiss Melt made in-house with 100% beef patty and six other deliciously mouth-watering varieties. Our evenings will see the addition of a 28-day aged bone-in ribeye, an extensive selection of the best hand-picked steak varieties that New Zealand has to offer and a plethora of wild game meats such as rabbit and shiitake meatballs, pheasant, wild boar and wapiti (a cross breed of red deer and elk only found in New Zealand). Featuring a perfectly crafted wine list, showcasing a range of global regions, vineyards and price points selected by a panel of experts, paired with nine of the finest cheeses from France, Italy and New Zealand.
To keep thing interesting we will have a number of weekly events and specials such as a featured local winemaker evening, live jazz music with classic movies, a gourmet grilled cheese night and a traditional Sunday roast. Why not make a booking now?
